Subject: Strange error code

Message:
Last night, I am messing around under the hood, and decide to check my TPS voltage. For some dumb reason I decided I needed to disconnect the sensor plug and check the voltage at the plug with the key on (BTW, 5.0 volts at the middle pin, is that normal?) Resigning to the fact I was doing something wrong, I buttoned it back up and went inside to hit the internet. When I went back out and started the truck, the MIL light comes on. Checking the codes gives me code 12 ('97 Dakota, 3.9l). Strange, evaporative...blah. I reset the computer drove the truck this morning, no codes. Anybody know why I would have got that code after playing with the TPS sensor plug?

any time you check the voltage on the tps it will give you a code. You can reset the pcm or have Autozone to clear the code or just drive and after several starts the light will go off.
