Josh,
Calm down. That was not a respectful post. Larry doesn't owe you an immediate answer, much less an answer at all. He has life, let him live it. He is one of the most responsive and generous individuals on this site with reliable high quality information. Demanding posts like yours can cause those folk to disappear. Your question has such an obvious answer....of course porting your heads, adding 1.7s and a TB are worth it. But it also kinda depends on what you're trying to do as well. If your trying to get some extra umph out of your six, then the answer is "yes." If your trying to blow away your neighbor's viper, then the answer is "no, it is not worth it; get a viper and start from there." If you have enough time and money to pull your heads to get them ported and polished, why would you EVER put the stock stamped steel rockers back on? Why would you EVER put the stock TB back on? There are so many posts on this site about straight pipes and which muffler to use, even posts from Larry recommending mufflers. How come you don't already understand that striaght pipes suck for our trucks? I've seen your posts constantly on this forum; you must hit this site twice per day. You should be an expert by now, at least be able to answer the questions you asked yourself.
Please consider this a gentle reminder to all, not a flame session for you. I hate seeing people flaming each other on this forum. Flaming is so useless. I usually just shake my head and move move on. However this is the second time that I've seen people be impatient or disrectful to some of our most valued visitors and helpers. Not that Larry needs my help to get you to "back up" or anything. I, and others, would appreciate it if you'd kick it down a notch. I see where you appreciated him at the end of your post, and that's cool.....just be a little more patient and think about the words you just wrote in your post before you send. Be respectful. You're setting an example for all the other users of this incredibly sucessful and enjoyable source of information for our Dodge Dakotas. The users of this site will either make or break this this site. Peace. Everybody be cool.

Yes you know I get busy at times too. I have many
customers I have and am doing the work on to gain
perf and fuel economy, performance is just an
after effect of improving fuel economy as long
as you can keep your foot out of it. Better fuel
economy and performance on these comp controled
motors is basicly 1 in the same

1. cleaning up the ports, 1.7 rollers and a
fastman or F&B along with a modded intake yes
well worth it doing all this would gain anywhere
between 20 to 40 hp at the wheels

Also do the crank sensor mod to gain the 3 to 4
degrees advance and injector sync at 0 to +3 than
you will see the gains

once the intake side is upgraded than do the
exhaust starting with the headers

2. Yes the straight pipe is hurting your perf, the
V6 needs backpresure, a high flow cat like the
carsound 2.5 in out, dynomax 17748 2.5 in out and
a single 2.5 tail has always shown best resaults
on the dyno runs. Unless your blown or turbo charged

This is just about perfict for the V6 you need the
cat and a good o2 to maintain the right exh temp
so the computer can control the air/fuel ratio
you are dealing with a computer control system
nothing like the old carbed motors

No cat causes abnormal o2 temps and effects both
performance and gas mileage
