Subject: swap in an NV3500?

how easy would it be to put in an NV3500 tranny in my v6? i know im going to to something. either a big power v6, or a stroked v8. i want to have a good, reliable drivetrain. will my ax15 take all the hp and especially torque? also, what about my NV231 t case, driveshafts and 8.25 rear and 7.25 front axles? Thanks, Steve

rear wont be a prob and since the 5.2 norm gets the NV3500 but when people swap the 5.2 into there v6 and leave the tranny alone with the ax15 except for changing the clutch and fly wheel. maybe its the same thing. there are a few people runnin around here with good hp/tq behind the ax. i personaly think the ax15 will take the abuse any 3.9 will throw at it.

The ax15 isn't an outstandingly amazing tranny, but it is a well built tranny with sealed bearings and everything... The main problem with it and to my understanding even worse with the nv3500 is the simple brass syncros that they have in them... Now someone on here a while back mentioned steel syncros and that's what I want to do to mine to replace my gear grinding through 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gears... Still waiting on the info I need for the part numbers to get them...

If you really are wanting a stout tranny AX15 "group member name" on here is developing a viper/cobra mustang 6 speed to go behind the V6... Krc has the kits for the v8's or keislerauto... It's the T56 viper tranny... BUT your looking at or right around 4 grand for it... Now you can also go with the stought 5 speed if you don't wont to pay all of that for the 6... Both are keisler tranny's, both with special steel syncro setups as well... Only the 5 isn't syncroed in reverse like the 6, nor is as good for speed and fuel mileage... You will be better off to go to atleast a 355 gear setup in the rear with any of these tranny's due to higher gearing, maybe even a 390something to take advantage of everything and a great lsd setup...
