What they did with my truck is cut off old muffler and welding flowmaster there so i would not have to replace all my o2 sensors about 2 years asfter that i let a friend use my truck and he broke my exaust it sounded like crap so i had them check out it had peeled the muffler open and busted a hole in my pipe thats why it sounded like crap

What size tailpipe? flowmaster doesn't recomend a large tailpipe.(No more than 2 1/2 inch.) the larger the tailpipe will effect the sound. I have a gibson single exhaust and it has a 3 inch tailpipe. I wouldn't recomend it.I'm stuck w/it for now :-( Also you will never get a V8 sound from a V6.

Well, I had a 40 delta flow series put on mine about a year ago and it sounds like a stock v-8 only a little louder. It is not as loud in the cab, mostly just a mellow tone, if I give it alot of gas at 3000 it starts to sound rather high pitched. These mufflers tend to "come into" their sound after about 2 to 3 weeks. Give it some time. I just had them use the stock tail pipe and I welded on a 3" tip later. I don't know, but I would bet that it would sound better with true duel exausts.

The crappy sound comes from the 3" tip. Its the same effect you
get when you put a tip on a ricer. Go back to the stock 2 1/2
tailpipe and it'll sound great.

you have a 3 inch chrome tip, but what size tailpipe? the tip is just for looks. My GIBSON has for example a 2 1/2 inlet, 3 outlet muffler w/ a 3 inch tailpipe and a pretty 3 1/2 chrome tip.

"I had a 40 delta flow series put on mine about a year ago and it sounds like a stock v-8 only a little louder." Can you make a .wav file of your exhaust because I want to hear it? I just can't believe that it could sound like a "stock V8."

Sure, no problem, it might be a while because I don't have the equipment to do it at the house, but I can always borrow some from work.

I'll tell you the best muffler for the 3.9l
Ask the muffler dealer for a o.m.e.muffler for a 1988-1993 chevy 350. it has a 3" inlet and (2) 2" outlets. This gave my truck the best low tone i have ever heard on a V6. cost about 60$ Every one looks at size of the muffler. Look for the flow ratings. This is for a 280 to 380 cubic inch motor.
Hp ratings for 220 to 280. I tried flows manga flow, turbo mufflers, I have spent a ton of money to get good power and sound. The last one cost 100$ installed.

GO WITH A STRAIGHT 2.5" EXHAUST FROM CAT BACK. THAT'S WHAT I DID AND IT SOUNDS GREAT, A NICE LOW RUMBLE BUT NOT TO LOUD AND CRAPPY SOUNDING. TRY A DYNOMAX FLOWMASTER WITH A MAGNAFLOW CAT

Since the orginal post on this page i changed my set up to a magnaflow high flow cat and still have the flowmaster. I dont really have a way to get you a sound clip. It sounds pretty good though. I also have 3" pipe through out the entire system (came stock in 93). I might be able to send you something in an email if you want.

I had flowmasters put on my 1999 RC Dakota Sport V6 and it sounds like a V8!!! I have had soooo many people compliment me on my V8 yet I have a V6! It's funny to watch their faces when they look at my front and it says V6 on it :p. I remember one time I let my brother off at Best Buy and I left the truck in first gear (automatic) and floored it and then let go of the throttle to get the pipes to crackle and one of the guys walking next to my brother said that has to be the best exhaust I've ever heard. I love my Flowmasters and would never even think of switcthing to another company. I dont' know what series they put on my truck at Midas, I just told them I wanted it loud! I do know they put a single inlet-dual outlet muffler on it with 3 & 1/2 chrome tips, the pipes running to the tips are the same size as the pipes running from the headers. I love the sound they make, I usually don't like people driving my truck but occasionally I do so I can lay down in my bed and just let the rumble sooth my body.

I posted some vids on my cardomain page http://www.cardomain.com/ride/627347/1?cat=25&val=1 if you want better videos of the exhuast you can email me at dc_street@bellsouth.net . The sound is really choppy with my camera for some reason, but o well. Also the videos i have posted really cant' let you hear the crackle :(, I just didnt' have time that day to have any fun, again o well :p. I LOVE MY 1999 DODGE DAKOTA SPORT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
