Subject: TB hose?
IP: Logged

Message:
Forgive me if this is common knowledge. I was checking my throttle body out, while I was checking out where a vacuum leak maybe, and I think I found it. There is a little hose of the front of the TB that goes to a vacuum line going to some sort of solenoid(?) on the drivers side rear part of the engine. Anyway, that rubber hose that was there was completely split. So, what is the purpose of this hose and/or vacuum line?

Also, I was trying to find the AC drain, and I cannot seem to locate it. Anyone have an idea where it might be?

BTW, I have a '97 Dakota CC 3.9l V6

Thanks all.

And, what does a MAP sensor do?

What would not having this hose cause?

it gives the PCM air pressure readings, it will cause your truck not idle right it the hose is missing or cracked.

GM & FORD use MASS works about the same way

Thanks, that makes a lot of sense. My truck has been idling rough lately, hopefully replacing this little hose will fix that.

Ruff Idle can be caused by a sticky IAC intake air controller mounted on the back side of the Throttlebody. Carbon will build up on the IAC shaft and cause it to stick. Use a #25 torx head driver to remove it, clean the shaft only with cleaner and replace.

how in the frickin he11 are you going to get CARBON into the TB....... NOT !!!!!!!!!

It's oil residue from the PVC system and it sticks to the insides of the TB and the best thing to do for it is remove the TB and clean the whole thing not just half azz it............

What do you think that oil residue is? I suspect Wadak assumed one would remove and clean the throttle body, and just wanted to make sure I knew to clean the IAC at the same time.

Thanks Wadak, for all the help you have given me.
