I just reached 30,000, and the manual says to change the plugs, BOTH trans axle fluids, trans fluid, and of course oil. The plugs look pretty hard to reach, do i need to remove some stuff to get to them? It says i need to adjust the bands in the tranny, how do i do that? And any tips on changing the fluids would be helpful. Thanks.

the plugs are a bear if you dont have either a flex ratchet and a bunch of extensions or a regular ratchet and a universal joint (and extensions)

the plugs i have the hardest time with are the middle ones, and the one by the brake booster. i bieleve the brake booster shouldnt be as much of a hinderance on 00+ models, because it sticks out further but its not as large in diamiter.

i got the tranny fluid and filter changed and bands adjusted at the dealer. it was pretty reasonable though. around $100.

the diff fluid was pretty easy for me (2wd) i just removed the rubber fill plug and used a suction pump to remove the old lube.

hope i helped

So I shouldn't remove the diff cover? is it the same for the front?

Anyone with help on the tranny? I am selling it, so I want to spend as little as possible.

i think you are supposed to remove the covers but i didnt have the time and it was cold out when i did it.

the tranny adjustment should be covered in the haynes manual or chiltons, your pick. i have a 98 dak and my book only goes up to 99 so, i cant help you out with any of the specs out of it because they likely changed a little bit. but your tranny should be a 42re.
