i went to the dealer today to price the Mopar cool air induction. they gave me some crap that it will cost about $375. that doesnt make sense. i asked the guy what is the difference between that one and the one made by K&N, he said that the K&N wasnt cold air. im not looking to spend that much on it, what is a better option? should i flow with the K&N, go with something else, or do a home brew? im not comfortable doing a home brew, but i get extremely detailed instrustions and a couple days off from work and school i might be able to pull it off.

Click on my profile and you will see the K&N cold air kit "FIPK" on a V6. You can get it for about $270.00

the mopar is the kn fipk.....it's made by k&n...
with the mopar you get a really cool mopar performance logo on it!
the guy at the dealer probably thought you were talking about the drop in element.
through the parts department they cost a fortune...find the guy who sold you the truck...he can get it at employee cost. that's how i got mine..it only cost $240 that way...much better than $375 (talk about a profit)

i got mine used, and it wasnt from the dodge dealership, so i cant get a hookup like that. i wish i could though. why did he say that they are the same thing but the K&N isnt cool air? so pretty much you are just paying the extra $100 for the Mopar logo? i think im leaning toward the K&N right now. i dont have a credit card though so i cant buy online, unless i get my parents to do it, but i hate buggin them about buying stuff online. im sure a parts store would chrage extra for it though. ill figure out something.

the dealership probably thought you where talking about the K&N replacement filter and that is why they said it wasnt cold air....make a friend at the dealership if you can because $240 is cheaper than $270!....also if you look in any mopar mag. you will find an ad for Kohler Dodge (spelling?) and they sell them for $240.....hope this helps...
