Subject: Gen I 3.9 Tune Up Parts Recommendations?
IP: Logged

Message:
Well folks, I guess the old gal ('88) is ready for another tune up (last one was about 60k miles ago) - oops, I've been neglectful. I want to change out plugs, wires, rotor and cap. What do you guys think are the best (or at least biggest bang for the buck) parts for the Gen-1 application? I'm currently running regular Autolites and the wires and distributor parts were NAPA's best when they were purchased many moons ago.

I was thinking that I'd try Autolite platinum's - anyone know the part# for Gen1? What gap? Was wondering if Mopar Performance made a rotor and cap for the this year -OR- is there something better?
Occasionally she idles a bit rough or is a tad doggy off the line, though it is not consistant. I was wondering if I oughtta change out the O2 sensor too? No sin, it's the origional and the rig's got 150Kmi on her. Just looking for ways to keep my baby happy.
Thanks.
M

Your 88 should be Autolite AP65 look it up in
the book at the store

They are the plat tip plug, gap .005 bigger

Another plug that runs very well is the champ
gold series plat tip also gap .005 bigger

Napa still sells the good caps with solid brass
incerts Yes replace the o2 it will help gas
mileage if its begining to drop
