Oh, BTW, if I keep the V8 injectors on the tbi, can I smooth out the idle by adding a high flow air cleaner. I thought that this would give it more air to balance out the larger amount of fuel being injected by the V8 injectors and even the air-to-fuel ratio back to norm. thanks.

i don,t know the size of the throttle plates for sure, but there smaller than 48mm for sure,

you have to remember these flow fuel as-well as air like a carb, the tb on the 92s up just air,
and here is where things mix[fuel and air]so the flow rate is,nt the same.

adding more fuel is,nt the problem here, getting a good mix[adomizing is]your truck is only using 15-20% of the fuel it gets now for power[that it burns] the rest, the cat burns so it does,nt go into the air as polutes[if you have a cat]so what is needed is here, is get a better mix ,power and
fuel mileage both go up.

thats why adding more air is important to the fuel your getting now.

thats the idea behind high flowing air filters,
tower spacers for the tb,so on and on,some help,
some don,t

let me try to explain this again, look down the tbi
you,ll see the throttleplates,up from there you,ll
see where it start to taper out from the throttle bore, the area from the plates to the taper is what you want to port out, make it taper all the way down to the plates

help this helped

Thanks vern. You are the greatest! You mean that where the inside wall of the tbi is like this:
|.....................................|
|.....................................|
\..................................../
..\................................/
....\............................/
....|............................|
....|............................|
....|________/\_______| <-----Plates
....|..............\/............|
....|............................|

Re-port it or bore it out to look like this:

|....................................|
|....................................|
|....................................|
|....................................|
|....................................|
.\................................../
...\............................../
....\________/\_______/ <-----Plates
....|..............\/............|
....|............................|

Am I talking about the same thing that you are? It is so hard to show it in these forums. You mean that you need to grind that tapered edge down to just above the plates. I finally got a good look at the tbi with enough light. I think I know what you mean now.
Can you tell me one more thing, how do you grind this metal down safely? Is there a process? I hate to keep asking questions. Those are hopefully the last few.

I hope I havent been annoying you lately. I was just looking for help. I was a little unclear of things at first, but its making complete sense now. I am writing down much of this stuff for future use (incase I forget). I hate to bring up the throttle body question too much. Some people are a bit touchy. You were so helpfull and I hope someone else gets a share of your knowledge.
Thanks again

thats right!!!!! you got it!!!!

i,m not trying to be a smart a$$,but your right it hard too tell someone on these forums.

use a high speed rotary grinder, just be real care-
ful when you do by the plates,

take the tbi off the truck, turn it over, you should see two screws, one on the front side and one in the rear side, opposed ends, remove these and the tb will come apart just above what needs the be grounded.NOW THIS IS IMPORTANT;THERE IS A GASKET HERE,YOU CAN,T BUY THIS GASKET,YOU,LL HAVE TOO MAKE ONE,you can buy gasket material from most parts stores

just take your time,go slow.this will take several hours,so plain on not using the truck for a day if you use that tbi

good luck

Thanks again! You have been very helpful. Now its time to make my truck have a little more power. Sorry I have been a little too persistant and keep posting questions over and over. Glad that you were so cooperative. See ya around...

TBW, what is a tbi -and those little injector things for, anyway?

No, I am just kidding.
