 Subject: 3.9 Magnum v. 3.4 Tacoma

I have a 1999 Dodge Dakota Club Cab 3.9 Liter 4x4 with small mods such as a super 40 flowmaster exhaust and a 360 air intake system. My friend got a 2001 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 with the 3.4 liter v-6 with the same mods as i do... Short story is he want to drag me on a 1/4 mile... I was just wondering what iu was getting myself into cuz i would really hate to loose to this person, especially to his truck, when he'll say his is faster yet dodge has 3 other engiens above mine ( 4.7 5.2 and 5.9) when his is the biggest engine available for a tacoma. Well thats pretty much it.. oh yeah and we both have Automatic tranny's... any imput would be great ( including any tips for myself before i race him. Thanks for your help and ill inform you guys what happened

To make a long story short, i beat a 3.4 Tacoma no mods by a half a car length. and i have 3.9V6 i have Flowmasters 40 series, "homebrew" K&N cold air intake, and autolite 3923's, this weekend im intsalling the thermostat and a throttlebody.. i havea quad cab tho and thats a lot of truck for such a small engine, the only reason im putting these mods on my truck is because im lifting it and i want the extra power to turn my bigger tires, im also getting bigger gears i think i want 4.10's but i'll probably settle for 3.95? i think ... of anyone is willing to sell to me

ur truck should take the taco. i raced a trd
tacoma w/ dual exhaust, intake and a 5-spd. i
have an extended cab 3.9 auto. i also had
tools in the back and my g/f in the front.

Go and take a Toyota out for a test drive and decide for yourself. I think that you are toast if you take this challenge. The 3.4 Toyota has a DOHC, and is a lot peppier than a virtually stock 3.9 Magnum Dodge motor. IMHO you need a Superchip and roller rockers to even think about this.

yea i have a stock 1998 dodge dakota slt 3.9L v6 magnum and i was just woundering being stock like that what cars and trucks right now could i smoke in a race lol and dont say an f-150 could beat me in a race because i have a friend that has a f-150 and we raced and i left his a$$ behind me

Yea thats true justin a buddy of mine has a f-150 4.6L auto x-cab
and my 98 dak cc 5-speed whooped up on his a$$ like 1.5 car lenths
