Hello all. I just purchased a 1997 3.9 CC Sport. I have had the truck just 3 days now.
My question is in reference to the dash lights. They have worked fine until yesterday. Yesterday I tried to remedy the non-working dome light. So I checked fuses. I found the "AOD" (I think) was blown.
I took the fuse out of the radio slot (truck does not currently have a radio, and I did not have any spare "mini" fuses). I swapped out the fuses, and the dome light works fine now....however the dash lights do not work. So I swapped everything back to the way it was when the dash lights were working and STILL NOTHING.
I have found that the dash lights actually work. But you have to barely pull out the headlight switch, like just enough to get the parking/running lights to come on. If I pull the switch out any more (to turn on the headlights) the dash lights go out! What gives?
there is only like a 1mm window where the switch actually turns on the dash lights. If you move it a fraction either other way, the lights go out. So basically I cannot get dash lights when the headlights are on.
Is this just a faulty headlight/interior switch? Or could it possible be due to the fuse swapping I did? I don't see how the fuses could be the problem because I switched everything back the way it was originally.

you may have burned up the switch with the diff fuse. there may have been a short and the fuse didnt blow because of a higher amp rating therefore burning up the resistor in the switch im not sure though you should wait for larry tazzy or wadak to help you on this one
