Subject: LOST POWER - BOGS UNDER LOAD

Message:
Any help would be appreciated - the truck bogs under load or when It's power braked - to a point that it's not drivable. I have tried cap, rotor, cam sensor, wires, plugs. Oh and I'm not too happy with the Dak lately - I had to have the tranny rebuilt for $1600 last week. The truck only hase 52 k on it.

I don't mean to sound negative toward you, BUT your tranny problems could very well be resultant of your powerbrakings and hot rodings ; )) Powerbraking "allthough we've all done it" is the worst thing you can do to your vehicle, no matter the make or kind... To start with your torque converter is slipping until builds up enough heat to turn one of your rear wheels causing premature tranny and torque converter damage... Second one rear wheel is all that is turning, so your spider gears in your rear are going through hell at the high wheel spin speeds, causing quicker wear of the rearend... Third only one wheel is spinning with your brakes engaged, so your causing unusual wear to your brake shoes, which unless kept adjusted will cause one wheel to lock up when you actually need the brakes in a hurried stop... So this one "fun" thing will cause damage to all of these other items which will result in your high bills...

Greg, I'm 38 years old, I don't think the post was understood. I don't power brake the truck. Only during diagnostics to bring the engine under load does it get power braked. I grew out of that 20 years ago.

If you also drop speed going up a hill, look for a plenum gasket. Check the posts on plenum and you will find a lot of information and suggestions. Good luck.

5.2 TB - Ported & Polished

this may be your problem right here to big the V8
body flows 635 cfm with absolutly nothing done to
it, porting it would bring that upto 735 750 way
to much for a stock V6 motor and you would have
a bad low end loss

I bet once its reved up it runs fine

Have you run a scanner and checked the MAP sensor

Speedtweeks Stage 1 Kit ? what is this explain

check the IAT adjuster with a digital voltmeter
to be sure its calibrated right and working

here are the ohms to temp tables

THANKS GUYS, THE SHOP IT WAS AT SAYS THAT THE AUTOLITE PLUGS WERE DEFECTIVE, HE PULLED THE NEW ONES OUT AND PUT IN CHAMPIONS, (I DON'T BELIEVE THIS) AND IT WAS CORRECTED, I DROVE 150 MILES TODAY WITH NO BOGGING ($400 LATER) BUT I THINK IT WAS SOMETHING ELSE THAT WASN'T TOLD TO ME.

PS, I REALLY NEED TO UPDATE MY PROFILE, (IT'S 2 YEARS OLD) I PULLED THE V8 TB - I WASN'T HAPPY WITH THE RESULTS, AND I KNOW THAT SPEEDTWEEKS IS GONE NOW. THE TRUCK NOW ALSO HAS BLACK FACTORY FLARES, BLACK SHAKER HOOD SCOOP AND KUMHO DIRECTIOAL TIRES.

ANY ONE WANT TO BUY IT?
