Subject: better cap and rotor??

Message:
i just wanted to know how ofted should you change your cap and rotor with a hotter coil (accell) and better wires (accell 300+) i had the wells cap on my truck for about 12,000 miles with bosch platnum plugs, then i upgraded to the new coil and wires. (still with the platnum bosch plugs)

then about 2 weeks ago, i put some 3923s in and decided to buy a napa/echlin cap and rotor yesterday and noticed that my wells cap was burned pretty bad on the coil contact for the rotor button and the rotor was burned up. just wondering if the new better cap and rotor should hold up better with the new coil, or was it just the plat plugs that burned my cap up?

I had the same combo and the wells cap lasted about 10k. I thinks it's just crap. My Bosch +2's were fired.

I went back to stock cap and plugs. Now it pings like a whore.

The after market ignitions like the MSD 6a will
run around 50 to 60,000 miles with the stock coil

But if you also run an aftermarket hot coil the
system will eat the caps anywhere from 7 to 10,000
miles.

I replace mine every 8,000 with MSD and Blaster
coil

sorry about the double post, thanks for the info. i will keep a much closer eye on my cap and rotor from now on (maybe keep a spare set in the glove box) so i dont get stranded) it was burned really bad, any more and the spring would have popped out

Thanks again for the help
