Subject: Question for Larry
IP: Logged

Message:
I have posted about my tranny problems in my 94 cc 2wd. I am going to rebuild it, but need advice on the best kit for the money. I am going to replace the torque converter and add a Transgo shift kit at the same time. The truck moves but jerks terribly and makes an awful deep whinning sound when in gear. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

You could contacy B&M and get a rebuild kit that
also includes the shift kit.

They can also make you any stall speed converter
you want, about 400 over stock greatly improves
power and exceleration and will not effect gas
mileage crusing in O/D lockup

Just be sure you check out your planitary drive
gear assy's and the spag bearing, its a one way
bearing set up be sure all the little locl tabs
are there and not ready to fall apart a new one
runs around $80 and if there is any question as to
its condition replace it.

Alos be sure to flush and blow out your cooling
lines just in case there is any dirt or fragments
in the system they will desroy a new trans very
fast and is overlooked at a lot of shops

Larry, In your experience is the B&M or Transgo the better shift kit for the 3.9 say obd2, 96 or newer.

I called B&M. They said that they had nothing for this transmission. Should I be asking for a special part number or for a 727. That is all that they said that they had in rebuild kits.

The trans behind the V6 is actually like the 904
the A518 behind the V8's is like the 727

both are basicly the same trans except for clutch
size
A518 and 727 have 8"
A500 and 904 have 6"

Just get a rebuild kit and a TransGo or mopar
shift kit they are both made by TransGo

I was thinking about something else for the older
transmissions.

Darrell

There is 1 shift kit that is better than the
transgo it also comes with the blocker rod for the
acumulator valve.

They also make a rebuild kit for the A 500 that
is what I was thinking about not B&M sometimes
the brain just don't click
