its not smoking is it? as long as its not smoking and dosent smell rich (like gas) it "should" be okay.
as long as its running ok, but maybe you might want to give it a tuneup. a little of black soot on the inside of the tailpipe is normal as long as its not a whole lot
how many miles?

just my 2 cents

Dan

Do you smell exhaust or see it...if you see black junk shooting out the tail pipe then your cat is burning out...if not it could still be your cat for it has already fell apart and the inside is somewhat hollow!

Take a look at the exhaust exiting it. Is it whitish looking, does it smell kind of sweet, have you noticed any coolant drops, check the oil for bubbles and antifreeze. You could have a possible head gasket leak. If you cat is gone your exhaust should smell like crap.

I have the same problem, but mine smells like gas just a hair, and i have a lot of soot, and crap shooting out. My muffler has been replaced and was royally shot, thought maybe crap from that was left in there, but who knows...

i dont think im getting as good of gas mileage as i should either (15-18 gallons in the tank) and im barely pushing 200-250 miles to the tank

im thinking an O2 sensor may be @ fault, but i dont have any codes tripping on the check engine light....
