they say the oil is good for 25,000 in a car what would it be for my truck do they have some sort or warrenty to back this claim ? would i have to do anythiing to convert to amsoil? im running pensoil 10-30 now

Amsoil Warranty
Most Important: Keep accurate service records and all purchase receipts
Vehicle manufacturers recommend using motor oils meeting certain grades and American Petroleum Institute (API) service requirements. Whether the motor oil is petroleum based or synthetic will not affect warranty coverage. The manufacturer is required to cover all equipment failures it would normally cover as long as the oil meets the requirements and was not the cause of the failure.
AMSOIL exceeds these requirements and has never been deemed the cause of an engines failure. Even so, AMSOIL has its own limited warranty, protecting you even further. In addition, the federally mandated Magnuson-Moss Act states that a manufacturer may not require the use of a specific brand of aftermarket product unless it is provided free of charge.
* If a car dealership, service center or other business states that using AMSOIL will void your new vehicle warranty, ask for that statement in writing and send it to AMSOIL Technical Services (AMSOIl Inc., AMSOIL Bldg, Superior, WI 54880). If the business won't provide the statement in writing send AMSOIL Technical Services a letter identifying who made the statement, the name and location of the business and what the specific statement was. AMSOIL will then send a letter to the business informing them that their position is inaccurate, and, in fact violates existing law. Your name will be held in confidence. A sample of this letter can be provided upon request.

Amsoil's Limited Warranty is in effect when Amsoil Products are used in mechanically sound engines, providing, of course the oil is kept free of contaminants by changing the oil filter according to the manufacturer's recommendation or, when using an AMSOIL Super Duty Oil Filter, changing the filter based on Amsoils oil and filter change recommendations. AMSOIL introduced the first synthetic motor oil with an API (American Petroleum Institute) Service Classification in 1972. Since that time, AMSOIL has varied and expanded its product line.
Amsoil is available in some stores -- mostly high performance speciality shops -- that lean more towards quality (for building performance and race engines, or an owner that appreciates superior products) than to a "price point" retail store (i.e. Walmart, etc.). I do know quite a few NAPA Stores that carry Amsoil (my cousin for one).
In the beginning, Amsoil, being a small speciality oil manufacturer, could never compete with the big guys for shelf space. Shelf space at the big stores is not free --- you have to pay for every inch of shelf frontage that you use. (I used to work in Management for an Import Company so I know this to be fact).
So, Amsoil started as a multi-level marketing company, also know as MLM, and once they decided upon this concept they could not change or 1000's of Independent Amsoil Dealers would loose their business.
If you see Amsoil on the shelf, the retail store works in the same capacity as an Independent Dealer. His discount is small --- so a lot of retail stores would rather carry higher mark-up oils, etc.

I have had many requests asking for locations where Amsoil can be "picked up" rather than delivered via UPS. Many Retail Stores carry Amsoil, but it is difficult to obtain an address list since they often operate as Independent Amsoil Commercial or "On-the-Shelf" locations. Another option os to "pick up" the product direct from the warehouse. I also would like to change to AMSOIL. I have the same question as some others. Do I have to do anything to convert to AMSOIL? I have a '98 with 50K. I saw that questiong posted, but didn't see a reply. I saw a reply once, but can't remember what the answer was. Thanks for the help.

Converting to Amsoil is as simple as changing your oil. You may want to consider using Amsoils engine flush tho, to help remove existing deposits. Good luck, and Good decision on converting to Amsoil.

I would love to change over to Amsoil.. but i cant buy it anywhere. I know.. order it... what I can I say, I dont plan that far ahead, or buy 100 quarts to stick in my garage all year. Where can i walk in and grab 5 quarts of it anyday of the week. Currently im using Mobil 1.. for no better reason than its the next best thing to Amsoil and its 20$ for a 5 quart jug at the wallmat down the street from me.
If I could find a reliable source locally where I could grab what I need... I would switch.
So any suggestions on a convenient method of getting Amsoil on a regular basis? (no my local dodge dealer dosent carry it.... yet im bugging them)

Get Amsoil - I don't recomend many products but this is one that is worth it.
Here is my suggestion.
Go to the Amsoil site.
Figure out all the fluids you need to change out your:
Rear Differenctial
Front Differential - if 4x4
Transfer Case - if 4x4
Crank case
Transmission
Oil Filter
Become a perferred customer for 6 months
Buy it all and put it in yourself.
Truck runs smoother
Saves Gas
Truck lasts longer

Independent Amsoil Dealers are located across the country -- in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, Canada, and New Zealand. Some Amsoil Dealers advertise in the Yellow Pages and some do not. Finding it in a store is not easy since Amsoil has no interest in competing for the "big-box" shelf space (i.e. Walmart), but specialty "Performance" stores are a good place to start your search.
Amsoil is usually purchased through an Independent Amsoil Dealer (via catalog or their website) but if you want to find it on-the-shelf in your area ... one way is to check the Yellow Pages under automotive lubrication and/or oil. Word-Of-Mouth at a local track may also help you find Amsoil Products in a local store.
If you can't find it locally, I would appreciate the opportunity to be your Amsoil Dealer and help you in every way possible. Support an advertiser (me) that supports and advertises on one of your favorite sites ... www.DodgeDakotas.com ?
