 Subject: 321 differential size

Hi, I was planning on switching my 321 regular rear differential over to a posi system, but I don't have a clue on the size that it is... The only thing that was even mentioned in the owners manual was 8.25 or 8&1/4 ... Is that what the 321 rearend is??? I always thought that hte 8.25 was the bigger stoughter rearends available for the dakotas and the dealer did say that it could be two different sizes... They couldn't figure out the size for the 321 though... What might be the best posi system out there??? I was looking into some in 4wheelers.com or some website like that and they were listed for around 3 something... Are there better ones out there for less than that??? Any help will be very apprecitated... Oh I have a 99' v6 dakota 2wheel drive...

3.21 is the gear ratio.
8.25 is the case size..

So it is the 8.25 :)) Good news... How about makes of posi locks out there... Bad, Good??? Prices??? Life span??? Abuse possibilities, becaues I'm sure there's going to be some ; ))

not for nthing but if ur goin to put in a posi, wouldent u wana change the gearing to sumthing that would make u actualy need the posi? the 3.9 should have atleast 3.55's if not the 3.90's just my opinion...have fun with ur truck! dana trac locks are good peices

Well I don't want to ruin my fuel mileage and the only reason I wanted it to begin with is because I spin and loose traction if I even think about getting off the road :)) That's really the only reason I wanted it besides elliminating tire spin on take offs ; ))

my bad man i didint know u were using it more for offroad purpouses. the 3.55's may help with gas milage tho, just sumthingt o think about
