i just wondered if anyones been on the chevy or ford site
and if there forum has 200 pages of people asking whats wrong with their truck. My dakotas usually
getting worked on too. So i just wondered.
i used to love my truck but now i don't even know if i'm gonna make it to work in the morning.Nothing serious but sensors, check engine lights.my dash looks like a christmas tree,i think every light is on. I would hate to see these trucks if you didnt take care of them.
if you dont baby them they will fall apart.
i know someones gonna get pissed that i wrote this but i had to let it out to someone and i won't admit it to all my friends who drive chevys

I understand where you are coming from, I'm really tired of sensors, catalytic converts, and all the saftey features that really beat the hell out of you more than the car that ran into you in the first place.

Mostly though it is just sensors going bad which cause more problems then you can count. It use to be if you had a problem you could tell by the sound of your engine, but now its a bright flashing light, followed by a world of misfiring, and degraded performance, and then a book of codes that tells you its something you have never heard of before.

I miss the days where Cars and Trucks didn't have computers, and everyone could change a flat and do their own oil change. But now you got so many dummy lights on a vehicle its pathetic.

Some of them sure, give me a Transmission Temp warning, thats a great idea. But other than that, give me some gauges tell where it should be running at and I'll take care of the rest.

And I don't want to see another Error Code 12 just because I take loose a damn battery cable.

the other forums have a lot of problems too. If you look at this forum you will find a lot of the questions are about putting a v8 throttle body on a v6 and other questions about mods. At least our pistons are not knocking against the head like the new chevy v-8's (5.8 and 6.0) or having all sorts of problems with sensors like new fords do.

Before we had all these computer controls cars had no power, got horrible gas milage and wouldn't start in the cold when they were more than a couple years old. I like fuel injection just fine. I bought my dak with 62K miles on it, it now has 96k miles on it and i have never had a check engine light. I'll stick with fuel injection.

1. Modern cars are much better. No such thing as the good old days. 'nuf said.

2. All cars are money pits. Dakota's are no exception. I've had my 2000 Dakota for less than a year and I've put $750 in it and now i need to replace a u joint.

3. If a vehicles are money pits, at least were driving sharp looking money pits and not POS money pits. Be of good cheer.

I have an 88 dakota and no c-mas tree on my cluster and hell i have 255k miles on it so all i can say is karma you must have treated you other vehicles like sh*t or the present one. If you have no mechanic skills dont work on your vehicle some people are just idiots when it comes to cars, trucks, and anything needed a wrench turned.

i have seen it all. you can get a "gem" or a "lemon" in any make, year, model or color. no matter how it was treated. i have experienced this first hand. my philosophy has always been, if ya hit a bad one, endure it 'til you can get rid of it. if it's a good one, keep it 'til ya get tired of it, because the truly good vehicles will just not die.

You just gota love a vehicle that runs 135,000 miles with virtualy no problems like my 98. I had a 97 v6 reg cab that ran great but kept having sensor problems and had a bad viberation that the dealer could not fix so I got a good deal on the 98. such is life.
