I try a third time while pressing the gas and it starts up and i keep the engine reved up for like a couple of minutes and its fine. I want to prevent this problem from occuring again any help would be appreciated. What engine do you have and how many miles on it. The IAC idle air controller on the back side of the throttle body may be sticking. It needs to be removed and cleaned with carb cleaner, just get black carbon build up off the shaft. It's a faily common problem on the 3.9 v6 daks. You might want to use the search function for IAC or Throttlebody cleaning. I know Larry from J and J Auto has posted pictures with showing the location of the all sensors and their function.
