I'm looking for any kind of help. I've had several issue with my Dakota for over a year now, from a rough idle to hesitation, but the worst is an electrical issue. On night while on the fwy all my dome lights came on and wouldn't shut off, I took it to a Dodge dealer and had their mechanic take a look, he said that a after market alarm system that was installed by the dealer had fried the BCM (body control module) I took it to my mechanic to have it replaced. When he called Dodge they said there is no such thing as a BCM! Any help or info would be appreciated.

I had a similar problem. The cargo light was staying on, intermittantly (typical electrical gremlin). I pulled the bulbs to protect the battery. Luckily, the first appearance occurred within the warranty period, but went unrepaired because the problem could not be observed at the dealership. I was somewhat irrated because it was intimated that problem I experienced was due to my in-ability to operate the switch correctly. After insisting that wasn't true, I was assured that if the problem re-surfaced it would be corrected under warranty. Since the problem could not be duplicated, the assurance that it would be corrected under warranty was an acceptable remedy to me. Sure enough it did resurface, now out of warranty; I pulled the bulbs again to protect the battery until I could bring the truck in. One week later I was stranded with a dead battery. This resulted in the second visit to the service center. Again the problem could not be duplicated by the service techs. I was told the battery is on me and that it was not unusual for new batteries to die in 2 years. I found that hard to believe, especially since this truck had the heavy duty service option (bigger battery,etc.). I insisted that an electrical problem, related to the cargo light, killed my battery. After escalating, I agreed to buy a new battery and the service manager agreed to "good will" a new headlight switch, the most likely culprit for the decribed, but unverified, symptom. This brings us to the third visit a month later. The cargo light came on, and this time, I drove straight to the dealership. I had finnally demonstarted the problem. An immediate swarm of service techs dove on my truck in the service drive. My truck spent the next three weeks in service department, the entire interior was ripped out, eventually resulting in the replacement of a major interior wiring harness. They claim they found a short in it. It seems to be working fine now, we'll see if the the gremlin resurfaces; now I'm wondering about this "CTS Module" mentioned in an earlier post.
