Subject: IAT sensor range
IP: Logged

Message:
Hey, I was wondering what the normal resistance range is on the IAT sensor. I'm getting about 25 kOhms at 30 degrees, and about 1.5-2 kOhms at 100-110 degrees('93, 3.9). Does this sound reasonable? My local parts peeps don't happen to have one in stock otherwise I'd test a new one. Thanks! -Jason

The IAT does not control the air it just reads
the temp

colder reading will do 2 things
add more fuel
advance timming

more timming more fuel more power and better
response

Jay been reading some of your questions just get
the stage 2 chip it lowers the IAT reading 30
degrees just off idle and 50 at 2500rpm

As you add more mods, bigger throttle body, 1.7
rollers cold air intake the chip takes more
advantage fo these mods and will help more

You can run the stage 2 with no mods at all it
just works better as you put them on also helps
gas mileage 1 to 3 mpg on every truck we have
put them on and we have installed a lot of them
every customer was happy with the resaults

I dont know the set up yet being we just got our 6 cyl truck, but with my other car (vette) we could change the location of the IAT to a cooler location like on the fan shroud, can this also be done to this trucks IAT?
