About 4 months ago we talked about how on the 2003 Dak ( or Neon ), you could not just disconnect the battery to reset the PCM ( for engine trouble light ). Dealer had told me that once power was takin from the PCM, it will not start again util its taken to a dealer (read tow truck here). If I remember right, this started with the 2001 or 2002, dont remember.
Anyways, you was going to check into that for me...did you find anything out?

I have a 2003 Dakota SXT and have disconnected the battery a couple of times to reset the computer after installing mods. The truck starts right up after you reconnect the battery. Sounds like the dealer was trying to keep you from using any other repair shops.

2003 sxt, 3.9 5sp, Airaid intake, Gibson split rear cat back, JBA headers.

next F&B TB

No Sh1t? Damn service manager. The problem was a defective gas cap causing the check engine light to keep coming on. After 4 trips the mechanic found the problem..lol.. Anyways, I ask them, if I couldnt just disconnect the battery to reset the trouble codes and that was when I was told if I did, the car wouldnt start back up. He said same applied to the Dakota. I didnt want to test it out for myself, not wanting to need a tow truck to get the vehicle back to the dealership.
