Subject: v8 tb made my check engine light come on
IP: Logged

Message:
I installed my V8 TB the other day. I put the v6 tb bracket on the V8 TB and then I had to Switch Sensors (the front two) and now my freakin check engine light keeps coming on. I restarted the pcm like it was instructed on many sites. and it keeps coming on no matter how many time i restart the pcm. It kinda pisses me off to have a '02 Dakota and the light be on.
Any and all serious suggestions will be highly appreciated.

i believe starting with 99 maybe sooner that key in the ignition trick no longer works (it doesn't work on mine) because of OBD-II, i would buy a scanner, i've done the autozone thing and those knuckleheads don't have the correct code information, or at the least get the code from them and then look it up in a dodge FSM

if you know some one with a superchips tuner for the durango/dakota they can proably read the error codes with it as well. Since you can no longer turn your ignition on and off a certain amount of times to get the check engine light to flash the code.

Check all of your connections to the sensors on the TB. Also check the vaccuum lines very carefully. After that, reset the pcm---- if it still throws a code-- you should be able to get the code # from the ignition key trick.

There's a remote possibility that you could have damaged a sensor-- the TPS possibly.

trip reset method

And find out which code you are getting.

The V8 body will not trip your mil light you have
something wrong there.

Conection or bad sensor, or as sam said you left
a vacume line off.

Or for your 99 you need a 96 or newer V8 body if
you have a 92 to 95 it will not work right
