How would you like to pop the hood on a Dak and
see a HEMI.

YOU CAN, I am all excited about this WHOO HOO
A HEMI IN MY DAK

rod and custom machines is now making a hemi head
conversion kit for the 318, 340, 360.

The manifold is setup so you can install injectors

I think instead of an S/C or a Turbo I am going
to build a 318 hemi for my Dak.

I have written to them to get some dimensions to
see if it will fit in my 95 4X4 with the offset
to the right the 4X4's engine has.

This is what I want going to have to do lots of
sweet talking to the old lady and even beg for
this LOL PLEASE PLEASE Let me spend the
money.!!! LOL

Price $8000

Sheesh Larry,
For $8000 couldn't you just buy an old hemi and rebuild it?

8k seems like a ton of cash for a conversion kit

Larry, Do you have an out-door dog house? Maybe if you were willing to spend a few nights in a cold dog house you might get your way. I' already in the doghouse with my wife after picking up some performance goodies for my Dak during Christmas. I just haven't had to the time to put them in yet.

The hemi conversion for the 318 is quite a package, even though it's expensive. by if one is truly serious they had better be willing to part withe the cash. One question, what kind of hp would the 5.2 put out withe Hemi package.

Doubtfull on the 3.9, but back to subject, you know you can buy a 392 SuperCharged HEMI for $8500 out of Mopar Muscle magazine or the regular 392 Hemi for $6000, so my question is why would you spend $8000 for just the heads...

Sheesh completely ported and polished heads for the 360 which will fit the 318 to my understanding is only around $1200 for the copletely loaded pair...

You could even buy a 360 crate engine, take it apart and completely build it, different pistons, cam, rockers, supercharger, and the whole kitten caboodle making close to 800hp or more for around $8000 to $10000...

Heck there's one place you can buy the whole new HEMI for $3500 if they didn't allready sale out their overstock, which I'm sure they did:/

Sure it would be nice to open the hood and see the hemi, but just think how much performance stuff you could buy for your engine for $8000!!!

Just my opinion I know, but just think of the possibilities ;))

Its not just the heads.

It comes with the heads, valve train, pistons, cam
lifters, pushrods gaskits and intake.

All you need is the block crank and rods the rest
is all custom made parts.

But the thing about it is the block will bolt
right up to the daks motor mounts and trans.

I already spent over $6000 for stroking and all
the other performance parts I have in my V6 Dak
so to me its about the same thing.

My first answer was that I should be locked up, I
am worse than a little kid with this stuff. So its
going to take me a while to convince the old lady
to let me do it.

I could sell her 04 intrepide LOL

Lets just wait and see for now. but my mind is
set on the idea already.

Go for it Larry, even if the wife puts you in the dog house, remember this, you can always put the dak up for sale and make money off it eventually, it is a little harder with the wife! Plus, I want to see how it works out because in about 50,000 to 70,000 more miles I will be looking to repace the motor in mine, if this works, I will definately look into it.

Uhhhhh.... Maybe we ought to go ahead and start taking up a collection for Larry's doghouse.

'Scuse me? Ain't he in Wisconsin? Don't it get colder that proverbial witch's bosum up there this time of year?

I think we ought to start with a 20x40, 8 foot high dog run, and then we can put in a fully insulated dog house with wall-to-wall carpet, and a couple windows for extra light (and so's he can tell if she's coming). The run needs to be at least 8 ft high so that he can close and padlock the door so's she can't get to him. I figure 40 ft long, just so's he can get his truck and tools and other valuables in there with him and still have a little bit of moving around room.

Lessee.... since it's so cold, he's going to need at least a self-feeding Grampa Bear wood stove - you know, the kind that takes those little wood pellets? Figure he can cook on it, too. I KNOW that he's probably split wood in the past, but since he's in his second childhood now, I know he don't want to be splitting wood when there's other fun stuff to do.

Still going to need some hot water occasionally, for that Saturday night bath - maybe he can rig something up out of the truck's heater hoses? Naw, that'd be a terrible waste of perfectly good antifreeze. Hmmmm. He just might have to go to his brother's house to get his shower, unless somebody comes up with a better idea.

Of course, if his is like mine was back when I spent so much time in the doghouse years ago - Hell, she'd see the gate open and KNOW that I was over at one house or the other, or at this bar or that bar, and inside ten minutes she either had me cornered or running again......

Larry? This is your RETIREMENT money that you're talking about. LOL!! LOL!!

You SURE you want to do this? If that's what you really want to do - go for it, buddy, 'cause it's yours and you earned it.

As Willie Nelson says - "If you ain't crazy, there's something wrong with you".

motor,

I have all the dimensions coming in the mail just
got an email from jeremy at custom machine need
dimentions to see if it will even fit.

The $8000 is just a projected cost not sure on
the exact price yet they only built a few to test
so far

Remember, it is always better to ask for forgiveness then permission. Plus how often does your wife look at your engine. She'll never know the difference.

Larry,

Why not build a 360? I realize that you have the 318 but sence you will be replacing just about everything, it would be not much more to get a 360 block, crank and rods. Then you would have a 360 Hemi and not just a 318.

Either way it's going to be cool.

Good Luck!

So it's everything eh... Now it's starting to sound a lot more worth it and if you've got the money and time then I say go for it as well... I also like the idea of using the 360 block instead of the 318 ;))

Yes its basicly a new motor, I also have a couple
360's sitting around here but I like the shorter
stroke faster reving motor

I will think on that one but if I go that far may
as well drop the V8 518 trans and transfer case
in the V6 44 RE may not take that much power
and stay togather

Your idea of the 318 Hemi conversion is actually starting to rub off on me. I sent the company an email and there suppose to ship out some information. With my 92 5.2 4x4 it would be perfect. I would have to do the same thing you would convince my wife.
