that is about normal for this time of year bein as how its really cold out and all. if you ain't gettin much heat the places I would start lookin is in the vent system to make sure the outside air dam is closing all the way so ALL the air drawn into the cab is pulled through the heater core. If that aint it either the heater core is plugged with crud, like as due to the age or the heater hose is starting to deteriorate and is plugged with crud. Some older cars/trucks used to have a valve that regulated/shut off the heated coolant flow in the warm weather so as to make the air conditioner work a bit efficently, sometimes they stick partialy open or closed as the case may be makin the coolant not flow enough and the air seem not so warm from the heater too.

Mine was doing that & couple mornings ago it quit blowing any heat @ all!

Back flush the Heater core. Under the hood next to the brake booster there are 2 hoses from the engine going into the firewall. follow the one that comes from beside the thermostat housing (that is the "In" line). The other connects to the water pump. With a cool engine disconnect both hoses. Take a piece of garden hose with an end cut off, use the clamp from the heater hose & clamp it in place of where the "out" hose was connected. Turn on water wide open. Observe sand, gravel, paint chunks & rust pieces coming out of the heater line. Once the water runs clean & clear for a few minutes, reverse the process. If your antifreeze is really disgusting, this may be a good time to flush your entire system & replace the coolant. Reconnect lines, fill with coolant & test heater. Mine went from luke warm kinda sorta heat to INFERNO!

Good Luck,
Shank

A good post to read is: Dakota Heater Problem, at moment it's on page 4 around the middle. Dan posted a great core flush that helped a lot of people.

Good Luck!
