Mine does the same back firing as yours. I think it has to do with the backpressure on the motor. Nothing to worry about. Mine somewhat wraps over like a V8 around 1600 to 1800 RPM. Mine is also a Flowmaster 40 series. The best sound you can get.

I have a V6 dakota and i have a 50 series flowmaster, and it sounds perfect. I was going to put a 40 series on but i think that it was way to loud for a V6. So i would recomend putting on a 50 series :)

I have a 40 flo with a high flow cat. I liked it
at first but now I can't stand the noise. It sounds sweet at start up, then sounds like a fart
pipe when you get on the gas. So if you want that Honda/Fart pipe sound go with a 40. Its loud
and no it will never sound like a V8. If any thing I think it makes my truck feel slower with less back pressure.
