Subject: TB is CRAP!

Today bought a cable for the V8 TB I bought and it bolts right up except it has not added ANY performance to my truck! WTF I keep hearing about how good this V8 TB is on our v6's...well today was test time.....I drove around and romped on it and had not noticed any difference whatsoever....then I raced a stock 2001 3.9 dakota and Was dead freakin even with him until about 70 or so....then i pulled away slowly...I have about 65 miles on the TB and I am very disapointed....I reset the computer by pulling the negative cable off and put the ignition on start for 18 seconds or so...I am very dissapointed with this mod and can someone tell me what I did wrong or what...I bought a gasket for it the other day and when I found out that the V8 nneded a cable I used the new gasket to put on the old v6 again...is this it...it sealed properly but I am still confused!

There is one thing I forgot to mention...the only thing that the Tb had on it was the TPS sensor...but I moved all my old sensors to my new V8 tb from my v6 is this it or what...I do have the TPS for the V8 but not sure y the v6's MAF and TPS and the other sensor would be set up different than the v8 ones.

What other mods have you done to your truck? If your engine cant breathe (restricted exhaust) it doesnt really matter if you increased the "potential" intake volume and flow rate. All the performance mods work in concert with each other with only marginal gains when done separately or incrementally (your slow pull away at WOT).

All I know is putting the V-8 on mine I feel a difference..
Not like a Big Block power But more than I had..

The V8 TB is the most over rated ricer mod on the planet.

I have yet to see anybody post an actual dyno pull comparing the stock V6 TB to the V8 TB. Even if you throw in all the other ricer mods like CAI, TPS voltage set to .7 or WTFII, IAT sitting in liquid nitrogen, giant fart can muffler and huge red 'TYPE R' emblem on the tailgate, and pruple washer nozzles.

To all those who will surely flame me I can only say, bring it don't sing it. Show me a proven dyno pull and I'll STFU. Prove me wrong if you can and we all know you can't. No butt dyno stories, no "I shaved 2/10's off my quarter time and all the hair off my sack" stories. I don't want to hear a bunch of shlt from a pack of ricers. Show your slip or buttom up your dress and fugg off.

You need to give the computer time to learn at
least 2 to 300 miles 21 cycles is what mopar says
full warm up and cool down.

If you see no gains you need to be sure everything
on your truck is ok.

All sensors working right, injector sync 0 to +
side, older trucks EGR, good state of tune. good
o2 sensor a lazy sensor will not read the extra
air and inrich the fuel

If these things are off nothing you do will show
any gains

The V8 bodies showed 15 to 18 HP on dynotest I
will see If I can dig one up to post.

Its not going to turn your truck in to a nitro
burning monster but a nice noticeable gain

To you people who blast this mod I just wonder
how long it would take me to find probs on your
trucks. 5 min on an Auto X Ray you would see all.

These computer controlled motors need to have all
the correct signals to work properly

You probably need to give the PCM more time to relearn before you write it off. Did you make sure the TPS was reinstalled at .7 Larry recommended doing the crank sensor mod. to me awhile back and it made a difference on low end, also the IAT relocation is very easy to do on your truck--I'd try that too. I have a '93--close to yours. Also put the AP3923's(not 3923's)in and gap them at .005" over stock that one helped my truck too. Like everybody says, these things all work together for gains, even if they are marginal at best.

It took at least 200 miles for mine to re-learn, but there was a definite improvement. I also upgraded the exhaust the same time so breathing out was improved too.

Ok....maybe ill feel a little better when i get to 300 miles but what about the old tps and the other sensors off of my v6 tb that i put on my v8 one...is that ok...are they interchangeable? And BTW I did have an 02 sensor check engine light come on twice before but it never stays on. My father says when the check engine light comes on for that the o2 sensor is messin up but when the check engine light is off the o2 sensor should be acting normal. My tranny is giving me high rpm's(so i think) thus sh*t for gas mileage, could this be my o2 sensor or what? Another thing I keep hearing its good to change your o2 sensor every 60k-80 ami right? BTW is there anything that still I might have done wrong why my new TB is not showing any gains at all...like I said I have like 70 miles on it....and my truck has 152.5k on it

Larry my father has some expensive computer to check what check engine codes are like and I think it checks if it is running "rich" but how will we know if thats happening...because the check engine light isnt on and i dont know if i have a lazy o2 sensor...I just want this TB i got to give me a litlle extra bump even if its only like 8 h.p. I spent a lot of time and more money than i should on this.

the TB and still no sign of gain.

Dude, I put mine on and noticed the improvements immediatly. Better throttle response, MORE power all over the RPM's, but especially in the 3000 and up range. And when in neutral I noticed that It revs up faster

I've got:

V8 T.B.
No Cat
Single in Dual out 50 series
Relocated IAT
TPS @.7v
Accel 8mm wires
Aoutolite 3923's

Hey, by the way, will the Stock 5.0 injectors help performance any.

Horsecrap!!! Bull F N Shlt!!! Do you have a DynoJet shoved up your @ss? You put the V8 TB on, tromped on the pedal and imagined that you had everything you claimed to justify, in your mind, the time and expense. If I drove my truck like a fuggin moron it too would seem like a Ferrari.

Dyno pulls people, dyno pulls. Post some dyno slips or STFU!!!FFS!!!

From the things you mentioned in the posts above
it sounds like your o2 is bad.

o2 recomended replacement 60 to 80,000 miles

They will not trip the light and need to either
capture the info under exceleration or just
monitor the sensor live while guning the engine
and check the resaults with a scanner and you will
see the sensor is getting lazy and varying just
enough not to trip the mill light.
like .1 to 1volt it may run from .4 to .6 not
enough to trip the light but lazy

When guys come in and say there truck runs great
at a certian temp like good cold bad hot or vise
versa good hot bad cold you need to check the
sensors that have to do with heat

IAT ohm meter
Engine Temp Sensor ohm meter
o2 sensor scanner

I always check the MAP but that usualy will not
cause temp performance changes it will just always
run like crap

Replace that o2 with over 150,000 its way over
doooo....!!!!!

sensor operation good electrical connections are
the key to a great running truck, most of the
sensors vary a signal to the comp 1 to 5 volts
a bad connection droping the signal 1 volt will
have noticeable effects on performance and not
trip any lights

The K&N drop in is not helping you any. When I put the drop in my mileage actually decreased. When I installed my home brew cold air I could tell a real difference. The stock air box is very restrictive and probably nullifies the what you are hoping to see from the TB. I put the 3923 AP plugs gapped at .048 in and could feel an immediate increase in power( thanks Larry). A week later I put in the NAPA cap, rotor and wires and felt another increase. It is all cumulative. Once you start it is hard to find a place to stop.

Home brew cold air with K&N,Dynomax, Superchip Tuner, 1.7 RR,, F&B tb. NAPA cap and rotor, 3923 plugs
