Just when I thought my reverse issue was bad enough!! When i start my truck cold it runs great. Accelerates awsome, idles fine, burns rubber. Run for 20 min, starts to miss, wont rev past 3000, backfires, stalls when put in drive. I have changed the trottle position sen, coil, rotor and cap. I am I missing something simple? It only happens when the engine warms..

I am having the same problem with my 88 except it does it in foward and reverse.Started when the swivel on the throttle rod at the trans. broke.I replaced it but can't get it adjusted right.Maybe thats your problem.

My friend with a Jeep Cherokee had the same problem. His exhaust was over 75 percent clogged up with the guts from his catalytic converter breaking apart.

Hit the converter w/your hand HARD to see if anything rattles around.

Mine is completely tempermental, doing similar things, but try the crank positioning sensor and the distributer pick up (sync sensor)...

Good luck... it could be anything!

Just a couple guesses, but couldn't the IAT sensor or the IAC valve do something like that?

I have tried swaping sensors from my old motor. The thing is this motor and tranny combo ran awsome in the van it came from. My thinkin is it has something to do with the truck. I thought it may be the computer. The truck is in a better place now (garage down the street) So much for my simple swap.

It sounds like a posibility, however there is nothing in the converter. Cut it open and emptied it out (actually I didn't, guy that owned it before me did, was a buddy of mine) Stil haven't heard from my mechanic, is that a bad sign?
