Subject: New Dakota seems bouncy

Message:
This is the first truck i have ever had, i bought it new a few days ago. However when driving and im sitting in the drivers seat it seems very bouncy , sorry "bouncy" is the only word i can used to describe it. When i asked the mechanic at the dealer about it, he sais that is natural for a pickup truck becuase the back is so much lighter than the front and becuase the suspension is tighter. Is this correct? should it be so bouncy? As i never had a truck before i do not know if that is a one of their characteristics. Thanks for the help and info

yeah, that's pretty normal. Esp if you have truck tires on it. (truck tires are often stiffer to support more weight)

Basically what happens is the suspension is made to carry a load. While in a car, you may only put a few hundred pounds in it, a truck can support up to a couple thousand pounds add'l (depending on the model) Since you are driving around with a empty bed, the suspension feels very stiff and you'll feel all the bumps in the road.

I just changed the front and rear shocks on my truck and I got the brand new bouncy feel back. My fronts were shot and the backs were super toast.

Yeah cheap COFAB shocks.

Hey there comeng all trucks are like that.. I just got my new truck in sept and I reduced the tire psi to 30 on all four tires and it took alot of the bounce out of the rear of the truck..

The dealer had the tires pump up to the max, then winter got here then I added 300 pounds of sand to help me with traction and now it rides like a dream..

I drive a 100 miles a day going to work and I love how it rides now.. Cya Quick 6
