 Subject: engine swap bugs!!

Got myself in a bit of a mess and could use some help. I swapped a 3.9 and 3 speed from a 92' B150 to my 92 Dakota. Everything went fine, just had to cut and add 7" to the drive shaft. My problem is every time I drop it in reverse, the engine shuts off!! I have unplugged everything on the tranny and it still happens. Drives great forward, changes gears great. The only plug left from the 4 speed with nowhere to go was for the overdrive. Anyone got an idea? Good thing mom always said go forward in life!

Well since you said "as crazy as they may be" I'll give ya my opinion... just disconnect reverse altogether and push it when you need to back up:)
Sorry...no real ideas.

if you can get the computer from the 150 try that.
i,ve tryed a computer from a 88,150 in my 89 dak
runs the truck fine,but it would,nt shift into o/d[the 150 did,nt have o/d]
this may have the adverse effect.
don,t know just a guess.

Thanx vern,
I did try the computer from the B150 but the truck wont start at all, about 4 pins are different on the main plugs. I think I got the reverse problem figured out. Is there a switch in the colum of these Daks? I get an odd reading on the voltmeter on the ignition wire at the ignition switch. Any other takers on my mysterious no reverse issue?
