Message: okay guys, I've got a weird one for ya, my brother has decided that he wants to build up the 3.9 v6 he's picked up for his truck, I'm okay with that so far, it's no weirder than me building up an engine for my caravan (ported, polished, etc...), the engine is a 3.9 magnum from a 98 dakota, he picked up in pieces for a whole 60 bucks canadian, he even got the PCM, and some of the wiring for it. the weird part is that it's going to go into a 1966 Fargo A100 pickup (think, little red wagon, wheelstander), this thing is even smaller than the smallest dakota (a100's have a 90 inch wheelbase!). now, because the engine came missing a few parts, we have to fill in the blanks with new stuff (fuel rail, injectors, TB, distributor, water pump, coil...) any suggestions on this setup? it has to be streetable, if this thing pumps out 200 flywheel Hp, net, then it's about 3 times the hp that it used to have with the 170 slant. the truck already has an 8-3/4, with a sure grip, and 3.90 gears (go figure, it had a slant six and a 3 speed), when it's done, it'll also have an A500/42RE 4 speed auto trans. since I'm a chrysler tech, I know my way around the outside of these engines, and I have no doubt that I can wire this puppy up with full OBD II system, but, I'd like your input on where we can make improvements along the way, instead of using factory parts we'd have to buy. we're not looking for anything insane, just some simple boosts. thanks,
chris.

You can run a V8 TB as is if you work for chrysler
you should get a good discount they give me 25%
on parts
Wire it up and let it fly
I also have some thoughts of putting a V6 mag in
one of the older mopar k cars I think it would be
a very economical cruser
I love these V6ers

Message: Underdrive pulley's, electric fan and a good cold air intake will help out a lot. Crower 1.7 ratio roller rockers are a must for the price. A 75HP shot of nitrous should get the front end off the ground :) The usual porting and polishing of the heads should help out too. You could also mill the heads and intake for a little extra compression.
I haven't done any internal work to my engine other than the roller rockers and i beat a supercharged 3.8L GTP the other night without using the nitrous. In a truck the weighs half as much you should have plenty of get up and go with the 3.9.

Message: Caravan, I recommend going OBD1 if possible. Get 92-95 wiring if you can. It would be less of a pain.
Also, try and get a fuel rail from a 92 or early 93, they have the return line style which is much more desirable due to its very tunable nature.
Good luck

Message: thanks for the suggestions guys. actually, I already have a v8 throttle body for it, I had a spare one lying arround from a 5.2 that I bought off of a co-worker a couple of months ago for my cousin. as for the computer, OBD 1 was my origional idea, but when we picked up the engine the guy also offered us the engine harness, and PCM, so I might make due with it, I already have half of the stuff for the computer system. nitrous is out of the game for us, it's illegal in a street car here in ontario, and I want to make this vehicle as legally legit as possible (if I certify this thing when I'm done writing my tech liscence, I want it to be legal). thanks for the tips, just as a background info, an A100 is most likely, the first compact pickup dodge ever did, think of a cab over semi, but 1/2 the size, the engine sits right beside you , so to make sure the engine "dog house" stays cool, I'm going to insist on a custom rad, with electric fans. it also has some neat features, in that it's a 1/2 ton truck, but the size is smaller, it's also a unibody construction, like the B series dodge vans that replaced the A100 vans. thanks for the tips, and we'll be sure to post pics and updates as we gat further along with the project.
