Ok my friend has a completely stock 2000
Civic Si.(I took a good look at it through and
through and it truly is stock) And he wants to
race...Heres what I have:
V6 with...3.92 Auto tran
JBA Headers
RS Racing coolair intake
Borg and warner cap rotor works
JBA power cables running to an MSD Coil
IAT Adjuster
OBX muffler (end of line) no its not a rice-alike
180 deg Tstat, 3923's blah blah blah.. the
basics
What do you guys think, hes very confident he
can beat me but i was looking at the specs
and hes go me by about 900 pounds (I have a
RC) he only has 98 ftlbs of torque and 160 in
hp at the crank, oh hes got a 5 sp so im also
thinking driver might play a part, I dont think
hes that great. Hes so confident that if you all
think i can take him im going to put some
money down, the kids beginning to get on my
nerves.

With the mods that you've got, and considering his is completly stock, I know you'll beat him from 0-30 however he will definetly start to catch you from 30-45. If you are still ahead by then, you got it won. I think you will win. Good luck, and kick his arse.

If he can drive a stick then he'll beat you.
Why dont you 2 just go to the track, each make a 1/4mile shot, and compare the times. That way its nice and safe, and you dont have to put innocent lives in danger by street racing like a couple of punkass kids.
Why race him anyway? what do you have to prove?

First of all we are going to go to the track, and
secondly I am not a punkass kid. I have driven
everything from drag boats to motorcycles
since i was 16 years old. Seriously juvenile
comments are not appreciated. I agree that
street racing is very dangerous. We are not out
to prove anything just some weekend fun(and
maybe a few bets :-)) we are good friends and
friendly competition in a safe environment is
fun. So please dont assume that everyone
who has a question about racing is going to
drag down some residential street, as most of
us know true automotive enthusiasts have
more common sense and respect for others
as well as the other people in our hobby to do
such a thing.
thanks and keep the advice coming...if there
are anydoubts i might just have to tack on
some Nitrous("its that added insurance"- as
Bernd says) lol

considering he has 98# of torque (wahoo) and you have the 3.92 gears and with all those mods at least 270# of torque....you should win.....si's are not that fast....i almost took a 99 in my 82 lebaron with a comparable 95# of torque

kids..four years ago a couple of kids decided
to race and ran into the side of an apartment
complex here in town.. luckily no one was
home...Didnt mean to start a war here lol :-)

racing down a strait empty street only endangers the drivers of the 2 cars. Besides what kind of crappy driver can't handle V6 dak or honda civic power.

Hey guys I was just wondering something that civic si is it the one that says vtec on the side?
because I saw one in town today driving like a moron. and I got beside him at a red light and thought about settling his ass down, but saw that vtec and thought twice about it. just because i didnt know what kind of power those little things had and i was right in front of the university here and didnt want to look like an ass. I still think I could have taken him.
'99 RC Black 3.9L v6 2wd 3.92 pegleg(sucks) 180 tstat, champion truck equivalent 3923's, gibson single swept side, and a k&n fipk.

They puch about 160 at the crank and 98 lbft tq
. They arent that fast but im thinking twice
about laying money down on my truck at the
track against my buddys stock one. I looked at
the power curves and they make all thier
horseys at about 7000 rpm. so at about 30-40
mph they will start to catch up(as previously
stated) but i think we should pull away with the
right mods(I just hope i have the "right mods")
Im thinkin a little sneaky pete dry 40 shot
should do the trick.

because it's honda horsepower.....never makes any since......my girlfriend had a 86 prelude (twin carbs) it had 120 horsepower and 115# of torque....those Si's never had a chance....fun to drive though. oh and her last car a 1.6 Del Sol S had 115 horsepower and 110# of torque....they feel fast and fun to drive on a curved road....that's about it.

Hey Jcr7079, watch out, those hondas don't really have it off the line but once they get going they can really move. My buddy has an 87 accord. I raced him one night, got him off the line by a few car lengths but he caught and passed me at about 90mph. Sorry guys, I was street racing on a country road at about 11:00pm. I have wised up since then though. I don't want to hit any orphens or nuns and I certainly don't want to hit any puppys!
