I have a '96 3.9 and it seems to have a problem keeping an idle. I have to give it a little gas to keep it running. This has happened before and it was the battery but it has been checked and is perfoming well. By the way it has 171K.

Have you had the IAC cleaned in your throttle body? And while your at it, clean the throttle plates.

No you don't, but be sure to get the proper cleaner for throttle body's from like Napa or Autozone.
