I have a 99 dakota auto, and the check engine light came on yesterday, and i took it to autozone today to have it checked and they said it was the speed senser signal...???Or it could be said a different way.Correct me if im wrong please. And its having a problem shifting.Like not going into gears right.Waiting till about 30mph before going into 2nd, and the same for other gears too. They said at autozone that the speed senser signal would make that happen.So....i am asking if i have all this right, and how i would go about fixing this myself. My warr. just expiered a few thousnd miles ago.And my dad is in the hospital from a stoke so, i really have no to take it anywhere. So if anyone here can help me with this, it would be a very great!
Thanks Joe

And if theres anything i missed just let me now and i'll try my best to get it.....

Speed sensor solenoid I think...if it's what I think it is, it's attached to the transmission and it's a relatively easy and not real expensive fix. I'm sure one of the gurus around here will be able to answer much better than me though. They'll also be able to give you a much more detailed location and all that good stuff.

OK, i called dodge and the guy there was very helpful in telling me how to fix it.And to let every one know the 99's have 2 speed sensers, one on the rear end and one on the tranny. So im going to go buy the parts tomorrow. Its only $33.99 for the one on the tranny and the other is $18.99.And he said both were very easy to do.
