Subject: FIPK Gen2 fit V6 Dakota?
IP: Logged

Message:
Some have said yes, some have said no.....so what's the answer?

I bought the FIPK Gen 2 and attempted it to install it on my V6....it fit fine, but the bolt that goes through the middle didn't align with the hole in the air hat? Am I doing something wrong or it just doesn't fit?

What year Dakota do you have? I'm the person that posted the K&N install hickup thread. The bolt,or rather stud,I had trouble was the one on the fender not the air hat. Everything on my installation lined up no problem. I have a 1997 and the proper K&N FIPK part number for this application is a 57-1509 (fits 1997-1999). The 57-1517 (fits 2000-2003).

See I'm not sure which model I have.....I'll have to look at the instructions when I get home. But I remember it saying on the paper it only fits the 5.2 and 5.9

The FIPK systems ARE listed as only fitting only 5.2 & 5.9 motors. The only differance is we have 2 less cylinders. I have seen in a few posts that some people cut the end of the intake tube off 2" for clearance. That was not necessary in my case.Just make sure your modle year matches.
