The needle and seat are under the float in the gas bowl of the carb. They cut the gas off when the gas bowl get so full. They come in a carb rebuild kit. Hopes this helps. Good luck.

it,s where the gas line connects to the carb
remove the line[the brass fitting that screws in the carb is the seat the needle is behind it.

carb kit is the only way to get one now.

You can check with chrysler if they sell just the
needle and seat W/Gaskit If not you need the # off
the tag and buy a complete kit around $15 $20

You need to remove the top of the carb from the
base and you will find the needle. Yes it is
behind the gas line as you say but need to
disasemble remove top to change and be sure you
adjust the floot heigt right.

Its best to have it off the vehicle so you don't
end up droping anything down the intake

Hey Larry, If you don,t mind can you please answer a few questions for me. My grandfather drove my truck about 90 miles out of town and back and it sucked up three notches of gas( on the guage) is this poor fuel milege caused by a bad Needle & Seat or is it because of my thermostat beening a 160 degree. Or is it somthing else?

The needle and seat will adversly effect your gas
mileage.

Its basicly like running the gas line stright
into the top of the carb. The fuel level will be
to high and if it gets bad enough it will poor
out the bowl vent and not run at all.

Running like you are I would also replace the
plugs after you get it fixed, running rich like
that will foul a plug real fast.

Also you may want to change the oil I am sure
you have some excess going by the rings into the
oil

if the float, not floot as you spelled it, is set too high it will cause the carb to run real rich also!

also a lot of the last carbs ever made had foam floats instead if sealed brass cans that were used, in a short period of time, usually just 3 years ot so the foam floats had a really bad tendency to absorb gasoline, making them relatively heavy and therefore they set too low in the bowl, and allowed way too much gas to flow through the carborator. I have egg on my face for the last post as I really ment to say that if the float is set too low that the engine will run too rich. Sometimes it is not the needle and seat that is bad but the float is just plain loaded with gas or also overtime the constant bumping up and down of the float causes it to be out of adjustment. I am not saying larry is wrong, just adding additional info.

Its posible but I have not seen one do it on the
dodges, just take the float and drop it in some
gas and be sure it still it floats.

I have soldered a few holes shut on the old coper
can floats myself

To high to low depending on how you look at it.
Is the glass half full or half empty, most floats
are set parralal to the top surface on just about
any carb. I did say in my post to be sure and set
the height right most kits come with a guage to
set them.

Lets switch that to float bowl level high rich
low lean

Why respond to a 7 year old post about carbs?
Your truck doesn't have one.

Start by checking for fault codes, Most likely O2
sensors.
