 Subject: eng starts and runs but stops when hot

First I would like to say thanks for the help so far the first problams was the coil and the fact my dad set the timing 180 off. LMAO for hours at that. Now it starts and runs some what. We tried to time the eng ever 40sec to 1min the timeing light will not hit. and the tach well just drop. this only happens form time to time and when it runs rough and send a ck eng light. then there are times that it runs right no ck eng light and it will idle but only for 4 to 5 mins then it just die like u took the key out. then start but stops or runs for a few secs. and u can hear the iac sucking in air. If u put ur finger over the hole it sound like it wants to run right but it will still die. If u wait like 30 to 40 mins it will start and idle fine for 10-15mins then it just idling rough and die. Like I sad the truck has 160k on it. Could some of my problam be a dirty fuel fliter. I am going to clean it this weekend. I was thing the iac but u can see it move and there are times that it runs like a champ.
thanks for all the help. Iv spent 2mos on trying to get it to start and in just a few days from yalls help its half way there. THanks a MILLION!!!!
