I have an 42RE auto trans that has started making loud valve train like noises in park only. Oil and filters changed between 20k/25k by Dodge. Any ideas what to check or look for? Thanks for the assistance.

Start looking for a new trans. Just kidding, Check your fluid level and condition. Any airation? How long since you had that service done? Still under warranty?-take it to dealer if answered yes! Does it change with RPM? Hot or Cold?

Trans out of warranty. 48k on truck, second trans service by Dodge at 45k, fluid level at full mark and a good red color. Don't know what noise a failing torque converter or front pump makes in these new transmissions. Noise is louder when warm, can be heard at all rpm's, but not present in any other gear. ????????? She goes to the dealer Monday, but not confident in them either. When my knowledge of mechanics is better than their's, there is a problem.

Wondering what ever became of your Noise. Lock-up torque converter I'm guessing?
