The timing chain on my Dak's been slapping for a while, & the motor's just started leaking oil from the bottom of the timing chain cover. I'm hoping the leak's no worse than a bad cover gasket, but as long as the cover's coming off, I'm replacing the old slapper with a double roller. My question is, as long as a new chain's going on & I've got the front of the motor nice and accessible, would it be worth it on this generation of Dak to advance or retard the cam? And how likely is it that this would cause a case of "perpetual check-engine light", or make me fail emissions? Thanks in advance for all advice.
