I am running a carsound with a dynomax 17748 with
a factory tail and it sounds and runs great

I was running with no cat but got tired of seeing
the mil light code 32, it took care of that gave
the truck a deeper tone and even on my stroked
and ported motor did seam to bring in a little
more low end and did not effect the performance
at all as I thought it would with my setup

Jeremey,
I have a '93, 5 speed, 3.55 rear, K&N drop in, V8 TB & Gibson hi-flow cat & muffler with 2 1/2" pipe. Average 22.6MPG (21.5 with AC)& just turned over 97,000 miles.

I think the best change you can make is a K&N drop-in for less than $35.

As for the muffler, depends on how loud you want it. The Gibson system is a little on the loud side but it was on the truck when I bought it.

Good Look & enjoy your TRUCK.

I run a 70 series flowmaster on my 97 dak. I want to keep peace with my neighbors. I get good performance out of the 70 series and it's slightly louder than stock. My son the Flowmaster American Thunder on his 92 3.9 dak, and that thing is pretty loud. If you want performance and a good sound try the 50 series. Although Larry from J and J is the 3.9 guru around here. Larry, any experience with Flowmasters?

I have a 93 mine is really loud, if thas what you want go with the Flowmaster 40 series. Mine is a Delta Flow 40 series, it helps keep the interior sound down while keeping it loud outside.

It all boils down to what you want. If you want it to be real loud then cut the cat off or just ream it out and you can either go straight duals or single in dual out. I have single in dual out with no cat. I have two mufflers. Mine is pretty loud but that's what I want. The louder the better I guess. But hey I've been pulled over twice for it. Once got a fix-it ticket but I went down to the local cop shop and got it cleared by another cop. A couple of weeks later I got pulled over again and I just told him that I just got it cleared. It's just whatever you are looking for.
