 Subject: Exhaust Manifolds

I was told by a friend that replacing my exhaust manifolds on my 98 dak with the exhaust manifolds from a 92 or 93 dak would increas horsepower about 10 horses. He said they flow real close to headers. How much trouble would it be to replace the exhaust mainfolds and would they bolt up to the exhaust or would it have to be modified?

Yes they will bolt right in and yes they are
bigger and flow better than 94 and up and just
as he said about 10 ponies
I thought this was common knowledge about the
manifolds, it was in sport truck magazine and many
others
6 bolts on each and the 2 on the Y Pipe there is
no gasket just be sure they are clean and they
will not leak or need a gasket, mating sufaces

Thanks, Larry I'm new the world of Dodge Trucks. My chevy s-10 gave it at 150,000 miles. I didn't want to spend another dime on it. I thought I would give the Dakota a chance. It sound like there are a lot of possibilities for the Dakota. I will scan the board and decide on some mods.

Larry what about 95 Ram with a 3.9. Would the older manifolds flow better and would they fit off a dakota or does it have to be an older full size Ram.

92 93 Dak or Ram 3.9 they reduced the size in 94
With a little work the V6 can be very economical
and reliable and fun to drive
Drop a cold air setup and a V8 or aftermarket TB
on there and you will feel some nice gains at the
rear wheels to go along with the bigger exh man's
