Subject: cold morning misfires

1996 Dakota Runs great except now that its getting colder when it gets to operating temp. it starts to stumble. Has left me on the sholder of the road more then once. I replace plugs, wires, rotor, cap, coil. Any other thoughts that I might try. Stumbled for a week then weather got warm and ran great. Now its getting cold again truck is misfiring again.. ok put on a new temp control sensor and that did not fix my problem eather.. any ideas????

sounds like the problem i have had .check engine light finally came on last week had it checked they said bad 02 sensor they had to order one will install it in a couple of days hope that cures my problem .you might want to replace 02 sensor.

just thought i'd let you know went and had my computer code read and they told me the code was p1391 "intermittent Loss of Cam Position Sensor". $60.00 at Advanced Auto Parts. I ordered one and will put it on tomorrow night. I will let you know on wed. how I made out.

Update, sorry my last post i said cam sensor it is my crank sensor. But I did get it today and put it in. When I took my old one out there was alot of metal shavings on it and it looked quite carboned up. I wont know until morning If that fixed the problem but im almost sure after seeing the shape it was in that it was the culpret of all my problems.. Will let you know tomorrow how i made out

Well, just wanted to report it was my crank sensor. Truck ran great this morning.. Hope you have the same luck. btw. it was real easy to change.
