What would happen if you just took a V6 Throttle body into a machine shop and made the bore bigger?? would it have the same effect as the V8 TB from speed tweaks or is there some difference that im not taking into account?
and if so what would be a good size to make it? 48mm??

if you increase the bore size from the top to bottom of the bore, you'll need larger throttle plates.

The Fastman and Flometrics TB's include a radius at the top of the bores, thinned stainless steel shafts, and matching (thinned) throttle plates. It's not as simple as boring the size larger.

For a naturally aspirated V6, no more than 48mm. 50mm is perfect for modified (cam/heads) or supercharged and/or nitroused V6's.

Yes. The throttle blades would "leak" air around the sides.

To put it mildly, you'd have erradic idle problems, incorrect MAP signals (lean/rich problems), an almost non-functioning IAC Solenoid...

If you want some decent performance from something you want to do yourself, just clean up the upper part of the bores, remove the air hours and radius the entry of the air hours, use button-head bolts (keeps the air restrictions down where-ever you can), build yourself an "S-Bolt", re-adjust the TPS sensor, and install a cold air system.

Leave the TB modifications up to the folks who've been doing it for years. I've done one myself and did notice some pretty good gains, but went a bit too far on the bores and had to send it out to get fixed.

headers won't do you much good without a good flowing intake.....i never even noticed much of a difference with my headers....but with all the stuff on my truck now, if i were to remove them i bet i would notice...

Bernd, you are the knowledge King here so maybe you can help me out. My 1990 2wd Dak V6 has a few mods. K&N intake, Edelbrock headers, no cat, dual flowmaster exhaust, Jacobs Omni Mag Ignition system, Jacobs 8.5mm wires, autolite 3923 gaped to 0.050.
I am looking into getting a set of Pre mag V8 fuel injectors. I have been told that my air/fuel ratio is too off for my V6 injectors to compensate for. Getting V8 inj. would give me HP. so I have been told. But what about modified or new TBs for my Dak. Would that be going over board or could I just take a stock V8 TB and put it on my Dak? Thanks for your help. Your incrediable man.
Oh, and your truck definitly does NOT suck. jeolously contorts the mind! that dude it torted!
Thanks again.
Joe E.

is it true that 2000-02 V6s are faster then 97-99 V6s??

one more dumb question. what happens if u bolt on a supercharger w/o modifing the fuel or ignition systems?
