has anyone tried the "dual sport" exhaust from gibson(two tailpipes exit to side)on a 3.9. i know everyone says the single sideswept has better performance, but is it that big of a difference? curious to know what people think of it sound/performance/looks wise.

There is a big difference becuase you will loose all of your low end torque with the duel. The sound isnt that big of a difference between the two. I can get you a great deal on the exhaust system, shoot me an email.

I have the single side swept on my 00Dak 3.9, the sound IMO is harsh, way too much resonance. the day i put mine on, i was able to chirp the tires from a standstill...2 hrs later (real easy install) if i dont have a puddle or sand to induce wheel spin, the tires dont chirp at all...AALLLLLL low end is gone. on the brighter side, mid range did pick up a little, mileage went up a few tenths, and once ya get used to the sound, you wont need as much tylenol.

I have the Gibson single side outlet system on my '98 3.9L 5speed. I've had the truck since it was brand new, and the only mods on it are the exhaust and a drop in K&N filter element. We have 157,000 miles on the original clutch, and I can get a chirp from second. Needless to say there's no problem with a burnout from a standstill. I avoid beating on the truck, but every once in a while I like to be certain it's still alive. I don't find the sound of the Gibson to be that loud, either.

Ryan in my partcular case, yeah, the low end disappeared. i havent done much to the Dak...K&N drop in, 180 degree stat, and the gibson. the CAI might have brought the truck back from the depths of hell due to it lowering the air temp of the intake charge(larry?)dunno really.. seems odd to me, but some mods work on some trucks better than they do others, maybe i jus have a monday built unit. DakotaTC...i have a slushbox man, wasnt lucky enuff to get a shifter. I got stuck with this truck due to a family crisis, didnt choose it myself. i can tell ya this tho, if i had a manual that wouldnt make the tires talk..id burn it...seriously cosidering burning mine anyway. 00Dak, aforementioned mods (+ tonneau cover) and i'm besting at 15MPH in town with light driving. i gotta say gang, when ya change ya ATF, and ya hafta have some BS fluid with "highly fortified friction modifiers"...it cant mean anything good.
speaking of, all my local trans shops tell me to add LubeGuard"black" when doing a fluid change...anyone used this magic in a bottle yet?

the gibson exhaust is made of aluminized pipe, not stainless steel.
(aluminized pipe will rust through relativly quick, compared to stainless steel where it will last for ever.)
not trying to change anyones mind just some info for you to think about.
i myself am in the market for a new cat back system and i am looking for a system under $400 that is completely made of stainless steel.

remember, you get what you pay for!

Gibson does not make stainless exhaust for anything older than 97. Anything above 97....just add a number "6" to the part number, and there's your stainless exhaust. Call Stylin' Concepts, they'll hook you up and usually keep good stock. I personally run a Dynomax. Only because Dodge gave me crap for the other exhuast I had. It's a single, only been on for a few days, so I haven't really noticed much yet. It's really, really, quiet. So if you want screaming loud, don't waste your time.

magnaflow is good all of their cat backs are made of stainless steel. Stainless steel is of course going to be more expensive than alumanized pipes. Or you could check out borla.

I have a 2002 3.9 4X4 Quad cab, and I'm going to change my whole exhaust with in the next few weeks, and I was going to go with the Gibson Headers and Duel sport.
Has anyone put on a full Gibson exhaust?
Are there any other full exhaust sets up I should look at first? I'll take any suggestions.
Thanks...

So If I where to go with a Magnaflow cat-back, what type of header should I get. Magaflow doesn't offer one?

Price isn't really an issue, I just want to get a good header & cat-back system for my truck.
