Subject: cam bearings?

I'm breaking down to put a dbl. roller chain in and am thinking about putting a new cam in,would it be necessary to put in new cam bearings or can i get away with not doing it seeing as to how the engine only has 80,000 on it.also going to put some lifters in, got 1 not holding prime.and whats the most used plugs,wires,& cap on a 93 v6 mag. Yes its a 93 and only has 80,000 on it.and i did a search and thought i was going to go blind. did 100 or so out of 69,000 possibles, damn, talking about bugeye.

my 2 cents. i'd change the bearings. there are certain components i believe should be repalced as a set.
ie, waterpump & thermostat, clutch,pressure plate & throwout bearing, cam, lifters & bearings, etc.....

Its not nessasary to replace the cam bearings to
do a cam change, they only turn half the speed
of the motor.

Just be carfule removing the old cam and
installing the new one so you don't nick the
Bear's or the cam lobes

Unless you pull the motor, removing and installing cam bearings is practically impossible. It would be good to change them, but like Larry said be careful and just swap the cams. Be sure to use a new chain tensioner and watch your cam marks. Use a good assembly lube too. Good luck

I would double check the cam position sensor timing in the distributer too.
