 Subject: 2000 Dodge Dakota gas mileage

I am on the verge of buying a used Dodge Dakota Sport with the 3.9 v6. How does this engine compare to other competitor trucks in it's class for gas mileage. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have an 03 Club cab, with a 3.9 and auto trans. I think the gas milage will be about the same as any V6 smaller pickup. But than again you have considerably more room and a bigger bed with the Dakota.I am over 6 foot tall ,I test drove all the small trucks and found the Dakota was roomier,handled better, and certainly looked better,than the rest. I have 11k miles now and would not trade it for any other small truck.

I have a 03 Quad with 3.9 and auto trans. The weight and EPA estimates are about the same as a Chevy 1/2 ton 4.3 six. Weight is within 100 lbs. or so. Seems like the Dakota is getting reasonable mileage for it's weight.

i have an'00 QC w/ 3.9, 5 spd & 3.55's. avg. 50/50 city highway driving. on average 19.8mpg woth NO mods. not too shabby.
