Subject: Thump on takeoff and brake

Message:
I have a 98 RC, i searched for a day reading posts about thumps but the majority of it is for turning. My truck does not do it when you turn, only when you take off and brake. I can feel it in the steering wheel and the brake pedel. I jacked it up and no balljoints are loose, everything down there is tight. Could it be shocks? i noticed mt tranny mount looks shot, i'm going to replace it but i doubt i would feel that in the steering wheel. I also have a bad froont wheel bearing that i'm replacing tuesday. could it be that. The bearing hummmmms at high speeds around turns and when you shake the tire you hear a click click. I took the tire off and i can move the rotor. COuld this be whats causing the takeoff and brake thump? or am i not looking far enough?
Thanks
Fletch

Could be a loose alignment bolt or nut. I had that happen to me and it was the upper bracket that was not tightened and it would make this noise when braking then accelerating.
I had to have someone walk along side to hear it then they noticed it.

Never late for a Tee time or wheelin with my buddies! Always ready for both!!!

Check your engine mounts. Retork the bolts, on my 99 3.9 the mounting bolt is 70 ft lbs. (Haynes)

alright - repalace the front brakes - make sure the slide pins are lubed - sounds like they are hanging up and not releasing - also check out he rubber on the front brakes

also normally shows un even pad wear when not lubed
