the last week or so i've been having problems with my o/d. after not driving it for a while like having the truck sit over night it will not shift in to o/d. but after driving it for like a half hour it will finaly shift in to o/d and be good for the rest of the day. this has never happened before and i'm wondering what the problem is. its almost like it needs to warm up before it will shift but it has not been cold so i don't know whats going on. its got 180,000km on it.

thanks
Phil

when is the last time you changed filter and fluid

sounds like your valve body has some dirty sticky
valves.

Use chrysler ATF +4 or amsoil universal fluid not
some cheap crap from walmart or autozone.

I would start here and than it could just be
the electric O/D selenoid.

Always start with the easy stuff on a small
problem

I had the same Problem, If I let the vehicle sit overnight it wouldn't go into OD for 1st 1/2 mile. I took the advice of the tranny shop and cut off the Tranny Thermostat.

If you look on the driver side of the engine the 2 aluminum tranny lines are crimped onto rubber and go to each side of the tranny cooler. The one on top should go to the pass side of the cooler. In the crimp is a Check ball/Thermostat. Cut that off behind the crimp and buy a piece of replacement hose, Slide the hose over the Aluminum and double clamp it.

While your at it.... Go to O'Reilly's and buy you an aftermarket Tranny cooler. The large one sells for $79 & it's worth it's weight in gold!

Flush the tranny, change the Fluid & filter. You should be better then. That's what worked for me & hopefully it will work for you too.
