Be lucky to hit 66 MPH with 3.55 gears and 235/70's. Say about mid to high 17's.

my 2000 r/c 3.9 at 3,55 stock brand new 60 miles on it went 17.50's,cold weather 16.90's,51000 miles now still runs the same,got a few wins bracket racing

i duno about that...im just wondering on sumthing here.. if my v8 seirra with a 305 (175 hp)2wd flowmaters/k&n a 5 speed and 15x10 rims in the back with 295/50/15's for tires in the rear can run low 16's to high15's depending on the track...and that weighs 4200 lbs at the least pluse me in it would make that 4385. how can these dakotas run 17's stock when there alittle lighter and have the same hp?? it doesent make sence.(and neather does my spelling).can you guys not drive? no offence..are your ebrakes down with the tailgait up?

standard tranny be a little quiker,3.55 gear tall ass tires,swap in 4.10 be much faster

Where you getting the 175 hp figure from for a 305? Most likely that is a net figure at the rear tires and no wonder it is faster. The Dak is 175 at the engine. Most 305 engine put out well more than 200 hp at the crank easily.

just because two totally different engines make the same peak horsepower, doesnt mean that they should run the same e.t. or trap speed. Besides the amount of torque the V8 has over the six, there is the issue of power curve... when does the motor make its peak power? how long is the power curve straight... and so on...

its a 92 305 w/o the vortec its a tbi...175 hp and im not sure on the torque tho. the truck is 175 at the crank

They included a 140-horsepower 3.1-liter V6, a 170-horsepower 5.0-liter V8, and a 235-horsepower 5.7-liter V8 those are stats for a firebird..the truck is no diffrent..i gave it a 5 hp bump up my bad..i guess well see when i have my friend drive the seirra and ill be in the dak i wana see what will come out on top

I think low 17's are possible if I manually shift it. I think I just have to find out. 1/4 track about 1 hour way though.
The 305's were rated at 165. Kinda low because I got mine at least 200+ at the block and ~170 at the rear wheels. Best time of 17.1? at 79.98 MPH in a 1/2 ton C10.

i've broke 15.92 sec. on my 99 dakota no mods just the ol' 3.9l in her. but she like to run down to the red alot........ Shes a redliner.... and i love it.. ;)

Wow!! 15's in a stock v6! impressive, but kinda hard to believe because my 92 auto was 17.1 and my friend's 98 auto was 18.5 in the quarter. Both are automatics.
