Subject: Auto Trans. Reverse Problem
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a 2002 RC V6 dakota with the 3.55 gears. The other day while putting the truck into reverse, it seemed as if it wouldn't go into reverse at all because the engine would just rev. The truck had to be turned off and then restarted before it would go into reverse. If anyone knows the problem or why this might happen, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

If its an electronic trans I would not worry about it unless it happens again.

Just a fluke if it does it anymore take it to
dodge and have them check it out could be a sticky
sevo on the reverse band may of just had a small
paticle that went through and might never do it
again

Before I put the shift kit in my truck the tran's
used to do all kinds of strage things and than be
fine. It happens

Like they said, could be a sticky solenoid. Also if the truck sits long enough sometimes they will slip for a few seconds until the get pressure through the system again. I would just check your fluid and make sure it's full. The first step in any trans diagnosis is to check the fluid.
